Getting here from Sunny Isles Beach
Auto Star Co. sits at the south edge of Hallandale Beach, right by NE 215th St, the Miami-Dade and Broward county line. From mid-Sunny Isles around 178th St, the drive is about 4.3 miles: head south on Collins Ave, cross west over the William Lehman Causeway, then turn north on Biscayne Blvd (US-1). Turn left on NE 209th St and follow it to Dixie Hwy and the shop. S Dixie Hwy is a different road from US-1, running parallel to it a short distance to the west, so turn west before you reach the county line. Coming from I-95, take the Hallandale Beach Blvd exit and head east, then go south toward the county line at NE 215th St. The Directions button below starts from Sunny Isles Beach and gives you every turn.
How far we are
In a straight line, central Sunny Isles Beach is about 2.8 miles from the shop. By road the drive is longer, about 4.3 miles from mid-Sunny Isles, because you have to cross the Intracoastal Waterway. We are in Hallandale Beach, a separate city, and are not connected to any building or business on Collins Ave.
Driving near the ocean
Cars that live on the barrier island are exposed to salt air all year. Salt can speed up corrosion on underbody parts, battery terminals and connectors, and brake components, and it dulls paint. Collins Ave also means a lot of slow, stop-and-go driving and short trips, which are hard on batteries and brakes. None of this is dramatic, but it adds up, so a check now and then is cheaper than a surprise later.
