What the exhaust system does
Your exhaust system carries engine gases away from the engine and out the back of the car, and the muffler keeps the noise down. It runs the length of the vehicle, underneath, where it is exposed to moisture, road debris and heat. Over time pipes and mufflers can rust, crack or work loose.
Exhaust repair and replacement
We offer exhaust system repair and replacement, including mufflers and pipes. Depending on what the inspection shows, a repair may be enough, or a worn section may need to be replaced. We will show you what we found and talk through the options so you can decide.
Why not to put it off
A loud exhaust is annoying, but it can also be a sign of a leak. Exhaust fumes should not be getting into the cabin, so if you smell fumes inside the car, do not wait. A hanging or dragging pipe can also come loose on the road. Salt air and summer rain in South Florida are tough on parts underneath the car, which is one more reason to have a noise looked at early.
Signs of an exhaust problem
- The car is suddenly much louder than it used to be
- Rattling or buzzing from underneath, especially at idle
- A hissing or puffing sound from under the car
- A pipe or muffler that is hanging low or dragging
- Exhaust fumes you can smell inside the car
